Mentoring program

As part of the mentoring program, we are looking for patrons and sponsors who would like to help talented children, young people or adults from disadvantaged communities in their studies, in achieving better study results, or in the study of music.

"I will let God use me" - Ilona Csonka

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19)

The children’s mission group Mustármag (Mustard Seed) in Svätý Peter was founded thanks to an ecumenical initiative about 13-14 years ago. I attended events since I was 6 years old with my siblings and relatives. We used one of the municipal office rooms for that purpose. It was possible thanks to the founders Gizike Csalava and Gizike Holcsík. Mustármag is a civic association that subsisted on donations and organized evangelistic events for children. There were children’s camps, craft workshops and, every week on Friday afternoon, lessons for children from disadvantaged communities in Svätý Peter where children learned Bible stories and songs.

I met the clerks of the reformed Roma mission 7 years ago. They organized evangelism, camps, home Bible lessons, family leisure programs, and children’s days to help Mustármag thrive. Zsuzska Tóth served in our homes on Sundays for 3 years. Then, as a “little helper”, I took over this service from her together with my fellow servant Zsolt Mórocz.

Young people who are ready to serve and who have been touched by God’s word are supported by the mission as co-workers. We develop our knowledge at specialized meetings, conferences, joint weekends and gatherings with co-workers.

The mission helped me a lot in my life, gave me many good memories, I met good people and I realized that there is nothing more important in our lives than God. Our goals, desires and dreams can only be realized through faith in God. I pray a lot for my family, for the mission God gave me and through which He touched my heart. Four years ago, I accepted God and believe that He is Almighty, and I also believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son. Since I have become a pious person, I see everything differently – the world and the people. God shows us the right way. It’s up to us whether we accept it or not.

I would very much like to complete my studies at Hans Selye University in the Missiology, Diaconia and Social Care study program. I would like to teach young Roma children through the Spirit to sing and play with them so that I can pass on everything I have experienced through my faith to other children.

It would be great if more people joined me as “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. ”- Matthew 9: 37-38.

I am infinitely grateful to Korean missionary Park Sung Kon and his church, the Korean Reformed Church in Bratislava for supporting my university studies and helping our small church in Svätý Peter. “God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2 Cor. 9: 7)

"My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry" (James 1,19)

I’m Ernő Babindák and I still live in Csata , in 2016 we started the work of the gypsy mission in the ranks of the Romane Jile-Gypsy Hearts Civic Association, led by my father István Babindák, with the help of the HEKS project.

Our organization has a family house called the Gypsy House, where we run cultural, sports, educational, leisure and prevention programs for children and adults alike.

I consider it important for everyone to know and be proud of their nationality, but I also consider it equally important to know and accept the culture and otherness of the other person. This philosophy is present in each of their programs.

We have always been God-fearing people, but we are not practicing believers, we have always listened to the songs of praise with sensitivity, interest and love. We can say we are lucky to have known people who have enlightened us on how to begin to know the way to God.

I am currently working in our Community House as a social worker and I am the head of the Lakatos Menyhért Tanoda.

I am still studying and I would like to thank both the Korean missionary in Park Sung Kon and his congregation, the Korean Reformed Congregation in Bratislava, for their pure heartfelt love and financial support. With their help, I graduated successfully from the Faculty of Social Work of St. Elizabeth’s College in January 2020, and I am currently a 2nd year student in the master’s program. I really want to finish because I think people need help and watching the world will need it more and more.
